Cobh Cathedral saves €11,500 per annum on flood lighting.
Those of us in that Cork area have admired the spectacular view of the Illuminated Cobh Cathedral . Since last Saturday the Cathedral has been illuminated by LED light. According to an article in The Cork News – “The LED technology means that the entire south and west elevations of the building will be illuminated for 23c per hour, or €500 per annum—just 4% of the €12,000 it cost to illuminate the church annually with floodlights”
You can do the same to your home or business and save money on your energy bill. Click here for our range of Domestic Energy Saving Lights.

Chandelier – What are the Energy Saving Bulb Options
Chandeliers tend to have many bulbs but of lower wattage. I have seen chandeliers with CFL candle bulbs installed in them. These will save you on energy but in most places I have seen they do not look well. A newer alternative is the LED bulb. The initial cost of these is quite high but they will payback in less than 2 years. e.g. if you replace a 25 Watt chandelier bulbs with a 2 Watt Philips Novallure bulb you will save €5 a year if the bulbs is on for 4 hours a day. The Novallure range are available in clear and frosted glass. Another option for your chandelier is the Philips ecoclassic candle bulb. These save 30% in energy and are dimmable.
